There is an app called Screenshot It Trial.

On an Android phone, you take a screenshot by pressing the Back button and the Home key at the same time.
It works on my Samsung Galaxy S2

You can make a screenshot if youvpress and hold power key and touch the home field….
If did then there should be a message that it saved sand where it saved…:)
I have a android LG doubleplay and I can take SCREEN SHOTS by pressing the lock button and home button at the same time
there’s app called sms pro.
& theres a setting on the app that you can take screen shots.
the only way is to get no root screenshot it and it takes a few steps to get set up and unfortunately costs a few dollars but it works great once its set up

If you have the latest software update on your HTC EVO then you don’t require an app. Hold down the power button and then press the home key.

I have a Motorola Photon 4G, there is a screen shot app by Mindphaze, its name is Screen Grabber, it works excellent. Once you install it, open it and go to advance settings. UNcheck the root access box. Works like a charm!
What if you have a MyTouch?
For a Galaxy Nexus and probably others as well you can press Power and Volume Down at the same time and hold and thats how I capture screenshots with no app.
