"Quite" is a funny name for a person, not to mention calling them a retard also :p

This would be funny, if they hadn't resorted to using the R word. Anyone with a special needs member of their family would find this offensive.
Jayson Loyd:

Special Needs is Special Needs. Retard refers to people like Snooki.
San Daly:
Nope. I've got a special needs member in the family, and I don't find it offensive at all. Please speak for yourself.
August 27, 2012 at 4:35 pm
@San Daly, I agree. My mom is a special education teacher, I grew up with special needs kids. I use the word "retard" to refer to "normal" people who act like idiots.
Betsy Everett:

special needs does not mean retarded. I AM SPECIAL NEEDS. retarded is well, as pp said, snooki and a few other reality tv starts.

Speaking as someone who is disabled, more often than not its people who aren't disabled who find it offensive because they are the ones assuming its directed towards people like me. Speak for yourself next time dude

Just ignorant people not realizing they are being insensitive. When you have someone close or you know w a special need, these comments become hurtful. Have to agree w Rei!
August 27, 2012 at 9:09 pm
I completely disagree. As said, I am in that situation, and I do not find it hurtful at all. If you think that being a retard and having special needs is the same thing, then that casts a very interesting light on you personally, but that is about it. I can differentiate very easily between those two things, and do not have a problem with it. Maybe you are being just a tad oversensitive, especially in the light of what Betsy and Kylie mentioned further up? Just a thought.
August 27, 2012 at 9:19 pm
Nope not overly sensitive. Just entitled to my opinion like you. I confitm my previous comment and ask that you respect it. Thank you.

For anyone interested in working from home and making extra money... I work from home and enjoy it so I thought I would introduce you all to it. The job I do does not require you to buy a packet, sell anything or ship anything anywhere. I work part time making my own hours and make an excellent income from it. If you want to work from home and want more info on it please add me and inbox me.

Nonsense. Just because *you* don't know the difference, it doesn't mean nobody else does.

I hate the retard debate (especially in this kind of forum), but I have to say THANK GOD for SAN DALY.
It's about time someone said it for what it was without making a big fuss over it. If you're taking offense to a word, then you're the one putting a negative connotation to it.
Retard, in a nutshell, is not at the same level of their peers, more often mentally, but it can be general....and clearly this sentence above isn't ignorant, but uses the word in a context suitable.
My mother says to me all the time when I don't follow instructions properly "are you deaf?" she knows there are people who are really deaf, she knows I am not, I don't think shes being ignorant.
and saying "its ignorant unless you have someone close" how does that make sense? I think that's the most ignorant thing on this page.
