What do you mean "not sure where you live"? It's spelled cheque basically everywhere else that speaks English. The American spelling is not dominant, as proven by autocorrect.

She DID say 'in American English'. She didn't say American English is the dominant language. So obviously the person who submitted this entry is from the US.
