Sounds like a personal problem.

When I type "disco," it allows "disco." When I type "dildo," it gives no auto-correct suggestions.
Maybe if people weren't typing stupid shit into their phones, they wouldn't have these kinds of problems.

One could text nothing but religious communication from the moment they get their iDevice and still have auto~correct issues.
August 2, 2012 at 10:47 pm
It's not so much the stupid shit they type as it is their inability or refusal to proofread anything before they hit "send." It doesn't take more than a second or two to reread what you've typed and make sure no sex toys are mentioned anywhere. :-/

@Chris: I don't find 'dildo' a particularly stupid word. And I have seen my own phone correct a perfectly good word into something that would have turned the conversation into a rather awkward direction if I'd sent it like that. I am sure that the content of your own phone is nothing but of the intellectually highest standard, and you would never say or type anything 'stupid'. How's the air up there on your high horse?

Mine changes the word as I'm typing. That's why I have it turned off. People need to open their eyes, and if they're too lazy to proofread, then turn of autocorrect altogether and never have the problem.

That's NOT "spell check," Brian, it's autocorrect. I'm not an idiot, I know the difference. And just because I think most people *are* idiots doesn't mean I'm not going to laugh at them for being idiots. I'm laughing pretty hard at YOU right now!
August 3, 2012 at 2:19 am
I laugh at anyone who thinks they know better than the rest of the world. (That would be you, BTW.) Because most of the time they're talking out their butts. (That would be you, too.) And it's funny when they're wrong. (Again...you.)

To be fair, I think that this site is funny. But I've noticed that the vast majority of the ha-has are because of words that the users have trained their phones to "learn." Out of the box, the phone does not punish its users quite as bad as portrayed. We're all human though. :)
August 3, 2012 at 2:35 am
You're wrong, I KNOW I'm 'not' "better than the rest of the world." I need not stoop down to your level, though. You've already implied yourself as "better than the rest of the world."
You're wrong... I NEVER "talk out my 'butt.'" I'm far from the disrespectful type though so I won't *go there* like you did (another attack and nearing harassment).
Me, wrong!? WRONG! But it's not my fault you don't know electronics near as well as I do. That's ok, though.
So... let's grade your attempt. Out of a total score of three, one per each attempt.
1. 0 2. 0 3. 0 Looks like your grade is an F!
The fact here is simple... I know myself, obviously MUCH better than you do. Notice though that I've NOT claimed nor implied knowing you.

This is great...hang on, I gotta go make popcorn, then you can keep talking...it's absolutely hilarious!! "Far from disrespectful!!" That's fantastic! Do you do your act at comedy clubs? You could make millions, maybe get your own show, like that Raymond guy, or even Seinfeld! Best of luck with that, buddy...let me know when the show starts taping, I want tickets!
August 3, 2012 at 2:47 am
That's actually not true, Chris. iDevices do NOT 'learn' words and use them to replace others. This fact has been proven. A relative of mine that somewhat recently got an iPhone sent another relative a text that was meant to include "flash light" but it went through as "ass light." This person hasn't used the word "ass" when texting.
It's not 'the site' that's funny... it's the texts that are submitted/posted!
We're human, but iDevices are not.

Lighten up a bit! we all need to laugh once in a while! it's not only texting/autocorrect that is like that....sometimes when people are tired or in a rush, they say things that just happen to come out wrong. So many tragedies are going on in this world lately..it does us good to laugh once in a while!
August 3, 2012 at 8:24 am
If that was meant for me Maggie then you've got the wrong person. I'm not even one to be told to "lighten up a bit," nor would I ever tell others to do so.

"Dildilo" sounds like Italian for a very small dildo.
