A common thing. I take it you don't have kids, since 3 is the norm.

on average, children don't have absolute full control of their bowel and bladder until around age 3...lots of kids can be potty trained around 2, but typically 3 is a good age to get this totally done...

How old do you think you were Meg?

Trying to do it too early just frustrates everyone involved.

Meg, how dare you judge. Each child is different and most dont learn to use the toilet until 3. Doing it too early can cause problems for you and the child. Your comment is just rude!

It’s not disgusting at all. 3 is absolutely the average age to start potty training, because that’s when most of them begin to ask questions and be curious about the potty, and that curiosity quickly turns into a desire to learn; not by coincidence, that’s also the age at which they start to want to gain control of their environment, emotions, and bodies, and be independent. Most kids just aren’t too interested in it until that age, which is where problems can start – by forcing them to do it before they, themselves, are ready. My daughter was completely potty trained by her 3rd birthday, and my son has already started; he turned 2 on July 1st. But they both showed that very keen interest on their own first. I made sure not to pressure them so that they would learn on their own time, and of their own volition. On a side note, my nephew was still in diapers on his 4th birthday. He didn’t have any physical or mental challenges; his mom, my sister-in-law, just didn't want to start the training. It's actually pretty disturbing; she even gives him a bottle of warm milk every time he wakes up during the night, which is 1-3 times. He is finally in pull-ups during the day and overnights at night.

I always taught my kids to poop behind the chair. I kept the litter box back there.
